I'm Avalon Waters Cassard.
Who Am I?
I was raised in a family that loves and values knowledge, communication, and writing. My parents never spoke down to me but encouraged me to rise to their level instead.
I'm thankful to them for opening my mind and letting me get my hands dirty. I want to capture that spirit in my own work - writing honestly in a way that speaks directly and powerfully to my peers.
I attended "learn-by-doing" public charter schools, and have continued that kind of hands-on education at Cal Poly. I've been able to learn beyond my years, having the opportunity to work as a journalist at a local newspaper before I'd even turned 18.
During my time at Cal Poly, I honed my Public Relations skills, while simultaneously developing my feature writing and reporting abilities. I learned to blend together my creative and analytical sides, getting the chance to act as a feature reporter for Mustang News, the university broadcast company, while also learning the art of Adobe InDesign, Premiere, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
While music is my first love, I've also developed a fondness for art, culture, and psychology. I also have a soft spot for baseball because of my older brother, and I follow the sport quite intently.
My biggest assets are creativity and resourcefulness. I approach any situation as an opportunity to be creative, which has become my key to success. I am a hard worker with unique ideas and would love to become your newest Public Relations asset.

What's Your Background?
I'm from all over the California coast. I was born and raised in Laguna Beach, CA before moving north to the Bay Area with my family as I was entering middle school. When I finished high school, I moved down to San Luis Obispo, CA to attend Cal Poly for my undergraduate degree. What can I say, I'm basically just a classic California girl.
I Want Something Custom... Can You Do That?
Totally! If you like my style, but want something special for you/your company/your project I'm more than happy to work with you to develop something completely unique. It'll just cost you a bit extra.
Do You Offer Services That Aren't Listed On Your Site?
The benefit of having such a variety of work experience is that I'm well versed in much more than I'm able to feature. If you're looking to do something I don't have listed, that doesn't mean I can't do it! What Do You Actually Do?
A little bit of everything! I'm a dabbler, so I have experience in a multitude of fields, topics, jobs, and more. While it sounds vague, I describe myself as a "marketing strategist" because I focus on the meaning behind the work. Plus "marketing magician" sounded a bit too cheesy.
What Is A Marketing Strategist?
While there's a professional definition for marketing strategist, I've broadened that definition to fit my mold. Strategist is defined as "a person with responsibility for the formulation and implementation of a strategy." When applied to marketing, I help companies develop their branding, voice, and personal identity, for a cohesive plan of attack.
Do You Have Plans To Do More School?
Currently no, I am loving being on my career path and getting to help companies put out their messages into the world every day. Never say never, but I don't see myself going back to school anytime soon.

What Do You Do When You Aren't Working?
When I'm not glued to my computer developing templates, digital & print marketing materials, and company identities, I can be found reading, spending time outside with my border collie, Rhona, eating brunch anywhere with gluten-free options, and spending time with friends and family decompressing.

I love figure skating and look for the chance to hit up an ice rink whenever possible which is not an easy feat on the sunny California coast!
